Italy vs Austria Live Streaming

Euro 2020 Finals round of 16 encounter, with Italy taking on Austria on Saturday the 26th of June, 2021, at Wembley Stadium, in London.

It is rather safe to claim that Italy are one of the teams that stood out in the group stage; three matches, three wins, a 3-0 over Turkey, another 3-0 over Switzerland and a “poor” 1-0 over Wales, a game in which the Italians deserved more goals. Their current form reads; WWWWW. Coach Roberto Mancini played a 4-3-3 formation against the Welsh, with Belotti as number 9, Chiesa and Bernardeschi up front. Pessina scored the only goal of the match in the 39th minute.

The Italians created but missed a series of big chances to score more than once. Mind you, more than half the players who started in the first two games, were given a rest against Wales, as the team had already secured a spot in the last 16 and Mancini felt it was an awesome opportunity to rest some guys, while at the same time giving game time to others who had not played much – if at all – against Turkey and Switzerland.

Austria faced Ukraine in their last group match, a “final” for them, as they were not sure of a top two finish, and finishing third would not be guaranteeing them anything. They rose to the occasion, won the game 1-0 and finished second in their group, behind the Netherlands. Their current form reads; WLWDL. Coach Franco Foda played a 4-2-3-1 formation against Ukraine,

with Arnautović up front. Baumgartner scored the only goal of the match in the 21st minute, but proved unlucky, got injured and had to get substituted before halftime. Be reminded, before beating the Ukrainians, the Austrians had beaten North Macedonia as well, 3-1, on their debut, and lost 2-0 to the Dutch.

Italy and Austria have met 37 times in the past, with the Italians having a better record of 16W, 8D and 12L. Interestingly, the Austrians have scored 55 goals, better than Italy’s 47, mostly thanks to some big victories of theirs between 1950. Mind you, the first game ever between these two was in 1912(!). They have never faced each other in Euro finals before.

A 1-0 victory for Italy is predicted at full-time.
Date: Saturday, 26th of June, 2021.
Venue: Wembley Stadium
Kick-off time: 21:00 (GMT+2).
