Netherlands vs Czech Republic Live Stream

Euro 2020 Finals round of 16 encounter, with the Netherlands taking on Czechia on Sunday the 27th of June, 2021, at Puskás Aréna, in Budapest.

Three teams had nothing but wins in the group stage, and the Netherlands are one of those. They sort of… made their life difficult on their debut against Ukraine getting equalized 2-2 after going 2-0 up early in the second half, but they still won 3-2. A 2-0 over Austria followed, with the Dutch wrapping things up in the group stage with a 3-0 in Amsterdam over North Macedonia. Their current form reads; WWWWD.

Coach Frank de Boer played a 3-4-1-2 formation in their last game, with Depay and Malen up front, and Wijnaldum behind them. Interestingly, it was the latter who scored twice, in a matter of seven minutes in the second half. Depay had opened the scoring in the 24th minute. Four players scored the Netherlands’ eight goals in the group stage, Depay had three, Wijnaldum the same, Dumfries had two(!) and Weghorst also netted against the Ukrainians.

The Czechs debuted in their group with a big 0-2 win in Glasgow over Scotland, a game that will be remembered for Schick’s… ridiculous goal practically from the centre of the field. Then, they drew 1-1 with Croatia, before losing 0-1 to England, at Wembley, in their last group match. Four points were enough to see them through to the last 16.

Their current form reads; LDWWL. Coach Jaroslav Šilhavý played a 4-2-3-1 formation against England in their last game, with Schick up front. The Czechs scored three goals in the group stage, and their “big man” up front netted all three. It feels like if the Dutch manage to… control Schick, the Czechs’ chances of scoring are rather limited.

Dutch and Czechs have met 11 times in the past, with the latter having a better record of 5W, 3D and 3L. They have also scored more than the Dutch, 16-14. The national teams of these two countries have already met twice in Euro finals, back in 2000 the Dutch won 1-0, while four years later, in Portugal, the Czechs celebrated a 3-2 victory. Both were group stage matches.

A 2-0 victory for the Dutch is predicted at full-time.

Date: Sunday, 27th of June, 2021.
