Wales vs Switzerland Live Streaming - Euro 2020

Euro 2020 Finals encounter, with Wales taking on Switzerland on Saturday the 12th of June, 2021, a Baku Olympic Stadium, in Azerbaijan.

Wales faced France and Albania in friendly games earlier this month, lost 3-0 to the French and drew without goals with the Albanians. Should be mentioned that in France they were left with 10 men just 26 minutes into the game, when Neco Williams was shown a direct red card. They went 1-0 down before halftime and 2-0 down just after the interval.

Given Williams’ red card, it’s hard to use that friendly game as a reliable source of conclusions. That goalless draw with Albania though, was not… good news for the Welsh. Their current form reads; DLWWL. Coach Robert Page played a 3-5-2 formation against Albania in Cardiff, with Roberts and Brooks up front. Page has been in charge since November last year, he took over when it was made all too obvious that Ryan Giggs’ troubles with the law in Britain were not going anywhere anytime soon. Giggs is still employed by the Welsh FA, but as long as the case against him is ongoing, he cannot be leading the team, hence his absence from the Euro finals.

Unlike Wales, Switzerland won both friendlies they played the last two weeks; first, a 2-1 over USA, and then a comfortable 7-0 over Liechtenstein. Their current form reads; WWWWW. Coach Vladimir Petkovic played a 3-4-1-2 (or 3-4-3) with Mehmedi and Gavranović up front, and Shaqiri supporting them, acting almost as a third forward. Interestingly, Gavranović was the only starter who scored (three

goals). Substitute Fassnacht (he came off the bench at halftime taking Mehmedi’s place) scored twice, another substitute, Fernandes, added one, while one of Switzerland’s seven goals was an own-goal, scored by a Liechtenstein player. What has been happening with Switzerland’s coaches is impressive;
 Petkovic has been in charge for seven years now, he succeeded Ottmar Hitzfeld in August 2014, who, in turn, had kept the job for six years. Right before him, Jakob Kuhn had been Switzerland’s coach for seven years. That’s just three coaches for the Swiss in the last 20 years(!).

Wales and Switzerland have met seven times in the past, but never in Euro finals. The Welsh have two wins, more recently in the Euro 2012 qualifiers, a 2-0 at home, while the other five matches have gone the Swiss’ way. Goals in total, 16-6 for Switzerland.
A 0-1 victory for Switzerland is predicted at full-time.
Date: Saturday, 12th of June, 2021.
Venue: Baku Olympic Stadium
Kick-off time: 15:00 (GMT+2).
