Belgium vs Italy Live Streaming

Euro 2020 quarterfinal, with Belgium taking on Italy on Friday the 2nd of July, 2021, at Allianz Arena, in Munich.

Seconds after the final whistle, Cristiano Ronaldo told Thibaut Courtois (according to reports) “you were lucky, the ball just did not want to go in” (or something similar). Truth is, the ball only goes where the shooter sends it. If you have 10 shots and you can’t find the target, then you should have done a better job. Belgium had one good-good shot in the 42nd minute,

Portugal’s goalkeeper got it wrong (truth is, the trajectory of the ball was tricky, but still, Rui Patrício should have done better), and that shot was meant to make all the difference in the round of 16 match between Belgium and Portugal. The Belgians’ current form reads; WWWWW. Coach Roberto Martínez played a 3-4-2-1 formation with Lukaku up front. Hazard (Thorgan, not Eden), scored the only goal of the match.

Italy were the big favourites against Austria in their round of 16 match, but they were given a real scare. Thanks to the VAR, an Austria goal in the second half was disallowed, allowing Italy to at least push the game to extra-time. There, 15 minutes in, the Italians were 2-0 up. Austria did get a goal back in the 114th minute, but nothing more than that. Italy’s current form reads; WWWWW.

Coach Roberto Mancini played a 4-3-3 formation. It was two guys who came off the bench, Chiesa and Pessina, who scored Italy’s goals in extra-time. That goal Italy conceded in the 114th minute, was their first in these Euro finals. Generally, they had allowed super few scoring chances to their group rivals, but Austria proved a really competitive opponent.

Belgium and Italy have met 22 times in the past and the Italians have a massively favourable record of 14W, 4D and 4L. They have faced each other three times before on neutral ground, two of those games went Italy’s way and one ended in a draw. This is actually the fourth time they meet in Euro finals, they drew 0-0 in Italy in 1980, the Italians won 2-0 in Belgium in 2000 and again 2-0 in France, five years ago, in 2016.

A 1-0 victory for Belgium is predicted at full-time.
Date: Friday, 2nd of July, 2021.
