Watch Switzerland vs Spain Live Stream

Euro 2020 quarterfinal, with Switzerland taking on Spain on Friday the 2nd of July, 2021, at Saint-Petersburg Stadium.

Incredible Switzerland played their part in producing a highly memorable round of 16 match on Monday, when they faced reigning world champions France. They opened the scoring in the 15th minute, wasted a penalty in the 55th, four minutes later they were 1-2 down(!), France took a two-goal lead in the 75th minute, but the Swiss did not give up, shortened the gap in the 81st minute and equalized(!) in the 90th, pushing the game to extra-time. No goal was scored there,

so the game went to penalties. Nine shots in, Switzerland were leading 5-4, Mbappé had France’s fifth shot and… you know what happened, Sommer turned into Switzerland’s “hero”… Their current form reads; WWLDW. Coach Vladimir Petković played a 3-4-1-2 formation against France, with Embolo and Seferović up front and Shaqiri behind them. Seferović scored the first two goals and substitute Gavranović equalized in the 90th minute.

Spain’s round of 16 match against Croatia was as eventful and unforgettable as that of Switzerland; from losing 0-1 after a hard to believe own-goal, they went 3-1 up in the 77th minute, only to get equalized 3-3 in the second minute of added time. They saw the Croatians miss a great chance to take the lead early in extra-time,

but by the 103rd minute they were 5-3 up(!), a score that did not change in the remainder of extra-time. Their current form reads; WWDDW. Coach Luis Enrique played a 4–3-3 formation against Croatia, with Morata, Torres and Sarabia up front. All three scored. Azpilicueta and Oyarzabal scored the other two goals for Spain.

Switzerland and Spain have met 22 times in the past and the Spaniards have an incredible record of 16W, 5D and just 1L(!). Switzerland’s one and only – up to now – victory over Spain was in the group stage of the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, a 1-0 for them. The two have met on neutral ground twice more, both games won by Spain. This is the first time they face each other in Euro finals.

A 1-2 victory for Spain is predicted at full-time.
Date: Friday, 2nd of July, 2021.
